CHEYENNE HUNT ON THE ISSUES
Bold Solutions for a Brighter Future
EXPAND ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE AND REDUCE PRESCRIPTION DRUG COSTS
Access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right, not a privilege. Unfortunately, far too many individuals still lack affordable healthcare access. The rising costs of prescription drugs demand immediate action. In Congress, Cheyenne will work to lower healthcare costs by expanding healthcare access, empowering Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices, and ensuring equal insurance coverage for mental health services.
-
Lower prescription drug prices, including capping the cost of insulin at $35.
-
Lift the ban on Medicare drug price negotiation and authorize Medicare to negotiate all drug prices on behalf of all Americans, including the uninsured.
-
Expand Medicaid home- and community-based services in order to help seniors and others in need of long-term care services remain in their homes and communities, including proposals to address the institutional bias in the Medicaid program.
-
Increase regulation and fiscal transparency in for-profit nursing facilities where there is currently little accountability for corporate provider practices, leaving these entities free to put profits over quality of care.
-
Prevent cuts to Disproportionate share hospital payments, increase funding for Graduate Medical Education, and reverse "site-neutral" payment policies that harm hospital budgets.
